Form:
The holdfast is made up of single strand outgrowths called rhizoids. The reproductive cells are either scattered or form patterns over the frond surface. Colour:While this species is mostly medium-brown, slightly darker near the base, it often appears bluish when seen under water.
Distribution:
Habitat:It is widespread in temperate waters, but it extends its range into sub-tropical and colder waters. This species occurs at the lowest tide levels and below. References:Bennett, I. (1987) W.J.
