Creature Features

Tun shell

Family: Tonnidae
Phylum: Gastropoda

A small group of species are generically called Tun Shells. They are distinguished by being large shells that are relatively thin and have distinct grooves running around the outside of the shell.

Tuns are predatory animals often eating echinoderms and other molluscs. Most Tuns live within the sand and are rarely seen because of their cryptic habit.
