Welcome from the Tasmanian Committee
The MESA Conference 2003 Organising Committee would like to welcome you to Hobart for two days of immersion in the cold south! As well as finding out about southern temperate and antarctic research, we have arranged for you to meet some of Australia’s top marine scientists, play with exciting educational resources and enjoy great company, good food and amazing scenery!

It is with great pleasure that MESA invites you to join us in beautiful Tasmania as we explore the frontiers of marine science and applications for teaching and learning about our marine environments. The exciting program offers some unique opportunities to meet some of Australia’s leading marine researchers and educators with plenty of social time to catch up with old friends and make many new ones. We look forward to seeing you in Hobart.

Venue
The Law School, located at the University of Tasmania has been chosen as the venue for our 2003 Conference. The School, located in the heart of the suburb of Sandy Bay, offers excellent meeting facilities.


Hobart, home of the National Oceans Office, CSIRO Marine Research and the Australian Antarctic Division has the greatest concentration of marine scientists in Australia. As well there are exciting educational initiatives, the best food and wine, amazing scenery and unique wildlife.

Accommodation
A range of accommodation is located within walking distance of the University. Accommodation has been held at three locations.
